Piper’s story started approximately in 2017, but not much is known about her beginning years on Earth. Found in October 2019 as a stray in Santa Ana, she was taken in as an underfed and scared girl at an estimated age of 1-2 years old. 

After living with a foster for six months, she found her way to me. I was told she was extremely timid and would need a very quiet, calm environment. That was not true at all. On the first day Piper separated herself out of this shy shell and was happy, lively, and loud as any Chihuahua could be. Piper was by my side every day for the next five years. Two cross-country moves, multiple heartbreaks, and graduate school brought us closer than two souls could ever be. While she was there for me.

Even when diagnosed with IVDD, Piper showed strength and determination. In 2021, she recovered from surgery and physical therapy and was happier and bouncier than ever. Piper also experienced seizures throughout her life. She never let those terrible moments take away from her happiness, warmth, or love for life. Piper tragically passed in August 2025 from the sudden onset of severe CHF. There is so much more to her story and the essence of who she was.
